PHYSIOTHERAPists

LOGAN RALPH, BSC KIN, MPT

Logan has always enjoyed working with people to achieve their goals. This made a career in Physiotherapy a natural fit. His journey started at the University of Victoria in 2005 studying human movement and exercise (Kinesiology) and began in earnest when he graduated from the Masters of Physical Therapy program at the University of British Columbia.

In order to pay the bills along the way Logan worked as a Crew Supervisor for Canada’s only Wildland Fire Fighting Smokejumper program. While jumping out of planes and working in remote areas of the North American wilderness he suffered many bumps and bruises, which stoked his passion for physiotherapy.

In addition to his formal education Logan has spent time working with people from all walks of life including time at the Child Development Centre and as a trainer on a professional hockey team.

Logan loves working with all types of clients but has a particular interest in musculoskeletal injuries, return to sport, and spinal pain. Inspired by evidence based practice, Logan has taken several continuing education courses focusing on back pain, extremity treatment, chronic pain, and pain science. When not trying to further his education, he maintains a love for all things outdoors including mountain biking, surfing, snowboarding, running, swimming, building signs and front desks, and all things movement.

Katie Knowles

Katie earned her degree in Physiotherapy from the Australian Catholic University in Sydney, Australia and her BA in Exercise and Physical Health Education from the University of Victoria. As a clinician with over 15 years of experience in exercise rehabilitation as a personal trainer in Canada and Australia, Katie is passionate about maximizing her client’s results by combining manual therapy and active rehabilitation (i.e. she will give you homework...and you better do it). She integrates many modalities into her physiotherapy practice including Functional Dry Needling, movement screening, Active Release Techniques, athletic taping, joint mobilization and neural tissue mobilization.

In addition to treating neuromuscularskeletal injuries, Katie is also a trained pelvic floor physiotherapist. She treats people with conditions including incontinence, prolapse, diastasis recti abdominis (“abdominal separation”), coccydynia (tail bone pain), painful intercourse, and, pelvic girdle pain.

Katie’s holistic approach involves a thorough assessment and a patient- centered treatment plan, which includes a strong emphasis on patient education. She believes that educating patient’s on their injury or dysfunction and giving them the tools to correct it will inspire her patients to become their own best health advocate. When she’s not working, you could probably find Katie in the great outdoors with friends and family, in the gym, or playing with her Boston Terrier, Franklin. As a previous competitive gymnast, Katie’s party trick is to walk around on her hands.

CHIROPRACTORS

DR. IAIN HARRINGTON

Dr. Iain Harrington is an evidence-based chiropractor who has experience improving the lives of those suffering from persistent pain. He does so by meaningfully engaging his patients, ensuring a positive atmosphere, and delivering quality care through a range of approaches – not just manipulations, adjustments or “cracking”.
He studied at Vancouver Island University where he received a BA in Sport, Health and Physical Education while competing on the men’s varsity volleyball team.  During the summer months he worked as a wildfire fighter, a humbling experience that gave him insight into the importance of a healthy mind and body. Earning his Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, his core value is to utilize an evidence-based practice – meaning he critically examines emerging research and integrates that knowledge with patient values to make clinical decisions relating to diagnosis and treatment options.
Iain sees an opportunity for his profession to do better and is fuelled by his passion to start someone on a journey to recovery.  He works to make sense of the person’s pain.  Iain educates, builds a shared plan focusing on active treatment strategies and encourages modifying lifestyle factors that might be contributing to the pain experience.  In this way, he gives his patients the tools to self-manage. His mission is to provide the highest standard of care for the complete management of musculoskeletal problems.  Iain’s clinical interest is to work with people suffering from persistent spinal pain, particularly individuals that have tried multiple treatment approaches with no success.
Iain believes being mindful and having a good sense of humour are the keys to success – a tenant he lives out through his interests in learning ANY new skill (he will try anything…once), hiking and falling off his mountain bike – something new he picked up this year.
